Research and Field Log Recording Questions
- As an artist and illustrator approaching a research study I have decided to document my questions and queries visually whenever I can. There is something about sketching a thought, or in this case a glimpse on an idea, a question.
- To me this image represents the concept of timekeeping, a subject on hand hand very familiar, a daily topic mingled into conversation and routine of everyday life. Yet then I ponder a clock , a specific French Mantle clock I happen to come across in an antique store and the proverbial wormhole opened.
- It started with the first question " What do I actually KNOW about timekeeping ?

THOUGHTS:
- How does a clock actually work
- When did humans first feel the need to keep time?
- When did it start becoming accurate and how?
WORD ASSOCIATIONS:
- more of an initial brainstorm without using any search engine etc

THOUGHTS:
- First thoughts about developing a searchable archive to accompany the field research
- Logging timekeeping objects, their location, data about the visit itself, a way to record whether to return for further study
WORD ASSOCIATIONS:

THOUGHTS:
- Further thoughts about developing a searchable archive to accompany the field research
- Thinking about psychogeography of encountered versus thought out clocks, sundials and looking horology museum visits
- Started with big paper pieces with blue tack on a large A3 cardboard to be able to move around freely as I think about the searchable structure
- Realisation that I might need to get back to earlier field log entries to streamline once a reliable way of accessioning has developed
